i’m loving color this summer. honestly, i can’t get enough. we went bold and bright on Monday, and we’re sticking with that theme today. whenever i need a mood-lift (and these days, who doesn’t?), i reach for color. today, i’m featuring an all-yellow summer jacket and shorts from Ann Taylor. i hope you love the outfit as much as i do. and i hope it lifts your spirits, even just a little bit.
i’m all about the summer jacket. in case you missed it, last week, we ran my 5 favorite summer jackets on YouTube.
today, i’m pulling in this puff sleeve open yellow jacket from Ann Taylor over this lightweight cotton pullover. to beat the heat, i’m pairing the jacket with these absolutely fun paper bag shorts. anyone who has been following me any length of time knows i don’t shy away from a good pair of shorts. this pair, also from Ann Taylor, is comfortable and airy—a perfect pairing with the jacket.

i love bright and bold colors: reds, oranges, and yellows top my list. although i’m a big proponent of neutrals, especially as a base, there are days in which i’ve just gotta make a bright, bold statement. (am i right, ladies?) today, i’m walking on sunshine with an all-yellow outfit. although anyone of these pieces would work alone alongside a stronger neutral base, sometimes monochromatic just works.

to take this outfit over the top, i’ve brought in all-yellow accessories. i’m loving these yellow slingback flats from Nordstrom. and how fun is this little handbag? (similars here, here, and here.) if you’re looking to mix things up a bit and add a little extra to your outfit, sometimes matchy-matchy accessories are exactly the right way to go.

I love that you wear shorts. So many women “our age” say no to them, which I think is a mistake. Obviously, Daisy Dukes are a no, but stylish ones are great. Please keep featuring shorts for us older, fashion minded women!
Love it
You look adorable in that outfit. There is no way I can wear a jacket in this heat when I am not going to an indoor restaurant or event (which I’m not during Covid-19) and a jacket may be out of the question for many of us in the summer heat.
You look fabulous. Love this.
Beth, You look so good in this fun outfit! Yellow is not my color, but maybe I could try this look in summer blues, pinks, or greens. Hope your knee is healing well, feel good! Happy 4th of July to you and your family and our wonderful country!
Fabulous, fun, bright, summer outfit!! Definitely an uplifting OOD! Thanks for the inspiration.
I love the yellow. I never had any yellow in my wardrobe, but 2 years ago I took the plunge and bought a saffron colored quilted jacket at Talbots and boy, do I love it. I get lots of complements. I love wearing it, and it’s a bright spot in the middle of what seems like a sea of ladies wearing black jackets. Enjoy the 4th!
