How’s everyone doing? My husband, kids, and I recently went on a quick Labor Day beach trip down to Florida with two other families. Basically, it was a lot of relaxing, bike riding, and just connecting with one another. The weather was pleasant and the company was even better, and we had 9 friendly teenagers all under one roof!!

Here’s a good pic we got of our family that I’ll always cherish because of the not-so-hidden message of LOVE behind us.

But over the past two weeks, since getting back into Athens, it has felt like a whirlwind of constant bad news and happenings. Add on that I got rear-ended during a rainstorm before we left for the beach, with my middle son in the car. It’s been a whole mess with insurance and such.
Some days, I’d like to just throw my cell phone right out of my car window. I kind of miss those days where I didn’t get to know every single terrible thing as it happened, AND have to hear/read/absorb everyone’s opinions on said events. But alas, that’s not realistic with the job I have as a social media content creator and small business owner who uses it for marketing purposes, will not allow that.

Getting the opportunity to write to you ladies every week here on SAACA is a privilege, though. And I feel it’s my job to bring a little bit of joy, color, and overall lighthearted beauty information to my tiny portion of the internet.
And as much as bad things/ bad people are going to happen here on this earth, in no way am I going to allow that to dim my light. If you are one that likes to read about the bad news, there’s PLENTY of it out there to consume. But I refuse to spend any time regurgitating it or discussing it here.
With that being said, I thought a fitting post today would be about the beauty things that bring me “comfort.” And those “comfort” things are typically the ones I wear and use on repeat, because I know they are steadfast and work. No guessing if I’ll look or feel good once they’re applied. These are my rock products, plus a few non-beauty ideas sprinkled in….
Here are my comfort beauty items…
My Comfort Beauty Picks
- Impress Press On nails, $7- $12. Currently wearing the style “Positive,” as a matter of fact. Very fitting considering this post! I feel like I can rule the world when my nails are done and I don’t have to spend hours in the nail salon AND pay an arm and a leg for pretty nails! This price point allows me to switch out my nail look twice a month for under $20. Having these nails on makes me feel girly and confident, and guess what, they’re comfortable!

2. Elemis Pro Collagen marine cream, SPF 30, $140. The smell of all Elemis products brings me comfort – it feels like I’m right there in my own day spa. And it works to give me extreme hydration plus the SPF I know I need to wear every day. It’s not cheap, but it’s 100% worth it.

3. Amazon Oversized V-neck long tunic, $20. I’ve already purchased this in 3 colors. It’s long, covers my rear end, is comfy, and soft. I like V-necks bc crewnecks sometimes make me feel claustrophobic – ha! Does anyone else buy comfy tops (or pants) they latch onto in more than one color like I do??

4. Tarte BB Blur Tinted moisturizer with SPF 30, $42, shade medium. I can’t say enough good things about this BB cream and how pretty it makes my skin look with minimal effort. I wore it the entire time we were at the beach, which I shared on my beach Instagram post here if you’d like to take a look.
5. Grabbing my dog, Taco, who is always sleeping under my desk, and holding him tight when he least expects it! Instant comfort and love were felt for both of us.

6. Revlon ColorStay Waterproof 24 hr eyeliner pencil, $8. What’s better than a waterproof eyeliner that’s cheap AND you don’t have to sharpen because you just twist up when needed? Yes please. Highly underrated eyeliner no one talks about enough, and comes in many shades – fun ones and classic shades.
7. Buying myself fresh flowers from a local business/nursery/gift shop right around the corner from my house. I display them in my home office so that when I’m working, my surroundings feel more joyful, and I’ve just supported a small business, which is really comforting.

8. Tarte tartelette mini Amazonian clay travel palette + tubing mascara, $39. I love this combo, and this palette is becoming harder and harder to find, but I found it on QVC. Just enough shades to choose from, but not overwhelming, and they all work to give a simple and beautiful outcome for any eye color.
9. Merit double-sided brush No. 2, $20. A friend recently gifted me with this dual-sided eyeshadow brush, and I’m obsessed. Easy to do eyeliner with on the small side and do all sorts of large shading and buffing with the wider side. Solid 5 stars on Sephora for this beauty.

10. NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip glosses, $10. Wearing shade “sprinkle sprinkle” in this post. I own a bunch of these because I prefer the ease of a gloss that feels mega hydrating with beautiful color payoff and shine. These deliver. My other fave shades are “missed call” and “that’s chic.”
11. Lighting a scented candle is an immediate way to feel comfort for myself. My top two scented candles I light on repeat are the Votivo Red Currant candle, $44, and Bath and Body Works “Leaves” candle, $26. Both of these are perfect fall scents.

12. Tresemme Root Touch Up Spray, $9. I wear shade “dark” brown. The gray hairs are coming in FAST and furious, and I can cover them in seconds with this stuff and know it’ll look as natural as possible, until I decide to embrace the gray!
13. Fixing myself a yummy warm coffee drink by mixing up my creamer into a frenzy with my Amazon milk frother, $20. I bought it in the color lavender, which makes me extremely happy! Coffee with cream is my total comfort drink.
What about you? What’s on your comfort beauty list of things that just feel right?
P.S. Did you catch my last post on what’s in my handbag? I was actually a bit shocked when I realized and accounted for ALL that I carry around on a daily basis!

Jennifer,
I always enjoy your Saturday post. You have a beautiful family. It looks like you guys have so much fun together.
FYI – Elemis was on GMA Deals and Steals last week. The Beauty Balm is 50 % off. I checked and it was still online and available.
We all love a bargain for a great product!!!
DARN how did I miss the GMA deals on the Elemis?? I need to remember to check their site more often bc I have gotten my favorite brand of BK beauty brushes off there for 50% off a few weeks ago which was amazing! Thanks for this recommendation
Well said, Jennifer. This newest event has hit me hard. I turned to your blog to cheer me up. We are Americans. We mourn, but we always find ways to rally.
YES to all of that Charlene. I’m thankful you find my Saturday posts an enlightening part of your day – I appreciate you continuing to come back and visit and read.
Hi Jen, my comfort beauty products are ANYTHING TaTa Harper! It’s pricey but so worth the spa worthy indulgence! I can’t get enough of the scent of her products. Subtle yet memorable. I don’t use the products every day, next when I need that special treat. Loved your “what’s in my handbag post”!
Nancy, I totally get how some of the pricier skincare that smells like a spa, is 100 worth it. Shockingly, I haven’t tried a TaTa Harper product yet – which one would you suggest the most??
Glad you liked the handbag post and didn’t find it too random – ha ha!!
Yes, Jen, I can highly recommend Tata’s Daily Essentials. It’s a 7 step set and all products are in a great little travel size. The perfect way to get started on her products. I’m considering just buying myself another set instead of buying the entire line in full sizes. Would love to hear in the future what you think of the products!
You have the cutest little dog!
Aww thank you Lisa. I’m a tad bit obsessed with Taco 🙂 He’s easy to love with that face and those ears!
A dog hug is always an instant comfort! I too am guilty of buying two of something when it fits great!
Your family is lovely- so genuinely joyful.
I figured I wasn’t alone in buying 2+ of items that fit so well! Thanks for the kind comment on my family Suzy.
Thanks for your Saturday Messages. Always useful information. Thank you for your positive and uplifting spirit. Coffee and creamer –my favorite drink and lavender also my favorite color. I’m 82 years young, so you know I enjoy seeing your beautiful face each week!
What an honor Helen to get this sweet comment from you and that you’re enjoying it all on my Saturday posts. and that we have the coffee + creamer and lavendar in common 🙂
Great post! Informative and useful. The non makeup ideas were excellent!😊
Thank you Cindi – glad you liked it all!
Thank you for addressing the events of this past week. It’s important and it’s crucial to acknowledge them. You did and l applaud you for it.
I appreciate it so much Nancy and thank you for being here on SAACA with me 🙂
Enjoyed your messages of comfort and your makeup recommendations. Good job!
Glad to hear it Linda and thank you for being here checking in on my Saturday posts!
Jennifer, I hope the things you list truly do make you happy and comforted. It’s so very easy to “get down” about the world these days, and even though we may try to ignore things, somehow it’s always there in our faces.
Your post encourages me to think about what comforts me and work on that, so thank you!
You have a beautiful family! Cherish the times that they are around you. Mine are older and always my very favorite time is when we’re all together!
This makes me so happy to hear Nancy that my post brought some joy to your day. And I will absolutely take that to heart to cherish these days with my teens that seems to be going by in a flash – Great reminder.
Dear Jennifer, if it wasn’t for Beth, I would not have found you! Before I open your post, I always get pencil and paper ready. Where I live, there is not a huge variety of cosmetic brands, but I have been able to find some that you demonstrated and that suit my colouring. I loved the handbag reveal. I do try to keep items to a max of five, but the content builds up so quickly! Sorry to hear of your holiday woes; however, I am sure there are many of your followers who are wishing you well at this very minute! Warm regards from South Africa.
WOW Marlette – I am HONORED that you are taking notes all the way over in South Africa! So cool. And I can feel the good vibes from you to me, already. Glad you are here and picking up a few new beauty recs along the way!!!
