Happy April Fools Day! No, I don’t have an interesting prank to share with you, but I am ever so happy to usher in April. Both April and May are glorious months in Georgia, so I am prepared to soak up every minute. As a matter of fact, I’m headed to the Ritz Carlton Oconee today for a fun photo shoot with my photographer, Jess. I can’t wait to share all the content with you next week! Today, I have a simple outfit based on my tried-and-true style uniform, the 4Bs. Blazer, button-down, blue jeans, and ballet flats. I always reach for my style uniform whenever I'm short on time. If you are new to the blog, you might be scratching your head and wondering what a style uniform is all about. To put it simply, a style uniform consists of wardrobe staples that you can pull together at a moment’s notice and step out the door feeling confident and looking great. The blazer and blue jeans are kept intact, but you can exchange any of the items. For example, instead of a button-down, I chose a Lightweight Sweater. And the ballet flats have been exchanged for cap-toe Block Heels.

A big part of my style uniform is denim. Everyone needs a great pair of jeans. My favorite brands are J.Crew, Talbots, Sofia Vergara, Ralph Lauren, Wit & Wisdom, or Frame. If you haven’t found your perfect pair, devote an afternoon to trying on every brand known to mankind. you’ll find one, I promise. Here's a hint: Before heading to the dressing room, wrap the waist around your neck. If it fits nicely, you’ve found the right size to try. A dark rinse is perfect for the evening as it’s dressier than a light rinse. and a light rinse, as well as white denim, will visually add pounds. But I love wearing white denim year-round. black denim, too. A lighter rinse is perfect come summer. Take note that jeans this season are trending with a looser fit than in years gone by. Today, I’m wearing a tapered jean.
Next on my style uniform list is a go-to blazer. Start with a neutral black, navy, or ivory, then add any color to your heart’s content. Personally, nothing beats a tweed blazer for instant elegance. It's classic Coco Chanel. Take heart; these days, you can find a tweed blazer at a price point that won’t break the bank. Mid-priced brands typically trot out a tweed blazer every year. Just keep your eyes peeled ’til you find the one you love. Today, I’m wearing J.Crew's Tweed Lady Jacket.

A button-up or silk blouse is always a good choice, but I also love a Lightweight Sweater this time of year. They’re a hard-working wardrobe staple. Start with black, navy, or, my favorite ivory. This is an investment piece, so don’t be afraid to splurge. Look for quality, as that will give you longevity.

Shoes and handbags make or break an outfit, so choose wisely. A variety of heel heights find a home in my closet. Nude or black pumps or flats are the most versatile colors. Also look for neutrals in gray, navy, gold, or silver. Block heels are comfortable and add support, as do wedges. For summer, a slingback is sexy and comfy. That’s a win/win!

When shopping for a jacket, should it be buttoned up? I love the look but have trouble finding one that fits over my chest.

The most important details for a jacket/blazer are where the shoulder seam hits and sleeve length. Ladies aren’t required to button their jackets when standing like men. I rarely button my blazers.
