Hello! Happy Thursday to you! While I love a one-and-done outfit, like a dress, jumpsuit or romper, I must say that I am a separates girl – make that matching separates. There is so much to love about matching separates; when worn together you have a one-and-done look, with the ease of separates; and then there are endless possibilities when it comes to pairing those separates with other pieces. So much bang for your buck!
Today Kelly is featuring matching separates from J.Crew Factory
The outfit is modeled, and she pulled together 3 alternatives

You may recognize this print, I have a J.Crew Factory shirtdress in this print that I featured here a couple of weeks ago. Today the Liberty-like floral print is featured with classic chino shorts and a puff-sleeve, ruffle top.
Neither of these pieces are offered in petite, and they are currently on clearance, so sizes are limited. I am wearing the top in XS; the shorts are regular size 0.
Matching separates have been popular for a number of years and I always manage to find a few options at my favorite retailers. J.Crew, Ann Taylor, Madewell, and Banana Republic usually offer several cute options; whether skirts, shorts, or pants to mix with tops in button-up or tank/tee shirt styles.
Whenever I am shopping around online, if I stumble upon a print I like, I will usually search the website for other pieces in that print. I have found that pieces with the same print are not often sold as “matching separates”, so sometimes a little bit of hunting is involved.
I can go a variety of ways with my shoes for this outfit. The print is blue and black on white, so I could go with white slide sandals; brown or tan sandals. I decided to go with black. These suede slide sandals are from Everlane, and they are old. But here are a few other options for black slide sandals:
(Everlane) Black Slide 1 | (Madewell) Black Slide 2 | (Nordstrom) Black Slide 3
We are expecting company at home today, so no need for a handbag, but if I were headed out, I would reach for my newest addition: the Fiona Top Handle Tote from J.Mclaughlin; featured last week for our trip to the Botanical Gardens. The black detailing of the handbag ties into my slide sandals and the black in my outfit, while the shoulder strap pattern has blue and yellow which is a nice color contrast.
Thank you all for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day Weekend!
