the sunday brief | beauty tips for the holidays

qvc | elemis

november always marks the start of the holiday season. this year, i’m determined to breeze through the next few weeks with ease. what’s my game plan to combat stress that’s inevitable to creep in? a regular visit to my local nail salon for a mani/pedi. what’s not to love about soaking those tired tootsies in hot water then scrubbing them with lavender or champagne? and i’m definitely penciling in a facial or maybe two. there’s nothing more relaxing than a deep cleanse, clarifying mask, and moisturizer. afterward, my face always looks refreshed and i feel relaxed. that’s a win/win in my book. it’s important to take care of ourselves ladies! especially during the holidays when our to-do lists get longer.

since i receive so many requests for skin care regimen, makeup tips, or favorite nail or lip colors i thought i would share what’s on my beauty radar this season. and the products i’m using lately.

skincare – daytime

this is my typical daytime regimen but i switch products every few months. sulwahsoo is on the pricey side but i have to say i LOVE this brand. especially the snowise mask which brightens my skin tone. but adding biossance squalane vitamin c was a gamechanger for me. now i’m a big believer in what vitamin c can do for your skin.

face – when it comes to foundation i typically wear laura mercier tinted moisturizer. it’s very light and feels as if i’m not wearing makeup which i like. but from time-to-time, when i wear a heavier foundation i reach for dior. hands-down my all-time favorite blush is nars orgasm. of course, i try new products but i always come back to nars as it looks good on any skin tone.

lips – love trying the latest and greatest lip colors and different brands from drugstore to department store but dior, nars, and laura mercier are my go-to brands. love how my lips feel moisturized when wearing any one of them. i would be remiss if chanel didn’t make my list too.

eyes – absolutely love origins ginzing mascara! but as we age our lashes seem to disappear so i recently started to use a 3d fiber mascara that adds length and definition.

all right gang, these are a few of my favorite products. and for those of you interested in drugstore go-to’s i’ve shared a get ready with me video where all products are from l’oreal.

  1. Wonderful post. You did it so simply yet covered so much ground. I may try this approach as well. Bravo to you for your continued inspiration to us all.

Thanks for featuring drugstore products & style on a budget! My drugstore product tip is I’ve used St. Ives Collagen Elastin cream for decades & it works just as well now that I’m 58 as it did when I first started using it. Of course everybody’s skin is different, but it works great on my sensitive, eczema-prone skin that some creams/lotions can irritate.

I enjoy the way you’ve styled the background of your “set”. Keep up the good work!
