The home tour continues this week as I share one of my favorite spots - my front porch.
Yesterday, I shared my living room with you which was recently updated with hardwood floors and a fresh coat of paint. I can’t tell you what a difference that made with the space! Today, we’re taking it outside with a glimpse of my front yard and porch.
Today's featured outfit is a skirt and tee from Talbots

The big project this year was figuring out how the water damage in my basement has occurred not only twice but thrice… But we think three is a charm with the addition of a creek bed in front of my porch. This feature will help keep water away from the house and redirect the water flow. My landscaper is 100% certain this will fix the problem once and for all. Fingers crossed!

Grandin Road is my go to brand to shop for outdoor accessories. They have a fantastic selection of wreaths and outdoor greenery perfect for any occasion and any time of year. This year for spring I chose the Farmhouse Floral Door Swag to adorn the front door and welcome my guests. The front porch is covered so lots of shade to contend with. That's one reason I chose the faux double topiary that sits in one of my planters by the front door.
The bunnies (similar here and here) are several years old and remain one of my favorite accessories. I added a tall lantern this year to the pot and bunny arrangement. But the cheerful black and white pots add a whimsical element to my porch along with the traditional rockers.

The black railing planters are from Home Depot and I love to switch out the flowers spring and fall. The brick stairs leading to the front door also got an update as I added two pots filled with pink geraniums, ivy and a Dracena spike for that tried and true thriller, filler, spiller combination that always works!

Today’s ootd screams summer. Love this cheerful A-line skirt from Talbots that’s perfect for a warm sunny day. I decided a little pattern mixing was in order and Talbots lead the way with a striped tee and floral skirt. For a preppy vibe I chose Jack Rogers sandals. If the temps are still chilly in your neck of the woods a white jean jacket is the perfect addition to this laid back outfit. Add an orange handbag from Mark & Graham with bamboo handles for a pop of color!

Beautiful porch and I love your Talbots outfit! The skirt is great and I really like how you combined the print/stripe tank with the coordinating ‘blue’ color in it and topped it off with the white denim jacket. Awesome ensemble!
It’s a style uniform I tweak year after year. Stripes with a patterned skirt. Works every time!
Your porch is very attractive. I can see alot of work has been done with your landscaping and it looks so good.
Thanks, Linda! Yes, two years ago, I embarked on a big landscaping project in the front and back. It’s coming along nicely!
Thanks for stopping by!
I love your porch – helpful since I am doing mine. I’ll have to see if Lowe’s has those porch rail planters. To each her own, I guess. I think Talbot’s combining stripes and paisley is unfortunate looking, whereas the same striped top, while playful, looks great with the solid skirt you modeled earlier.
That’s too funny, Maeve; I think of Home Depot or Lowes as the same. Both are Big Box Hardware stores. I’ll go to whichever is closest.
And it’s unfortunate you don’t love the pattern mixing like yours truly! It’s a design technique stolen from interior design that works quite well to keep our rooms looking bold and interesting. The same with outfits. Yep, to each their own, but I think you’re missing out.
Absolutely beautiful, and that creek bed: WOW! Your landscaper is very talented. I’m betting it will work well for you, because when I had problems with water collecting on my patio, I put in a much smaller creek bed myself, on the edge of the slab (not nearly as pretty as yours), but it’s done the trick! I love the outfit you’re wearing! I would never have thought to combine that top with that skirt, but I follow you to get ideas, and that combination looks great on you! So cheerful!
Fingers crossed, Judi! But I think we finally solved the water problem. Isn’t this a cheerful outfit?! Perfect for those sunny days May likes to deliver.
