Happy Friday, gang! Yours truly is finally feeling back to normal after a bout with Bronchitis that set in after the wedding festivities. I was on the go, go, go from Thanksgiving to New Year’s, and my body finally told me, “If you’re not going to slow down, we’ll do it for you…” Since I never get sick (knock on wood), I have to say it was tough being sidelined with congestion and a cough that lingered. But I’m happy to report I’m back in action and feeling good. Kelly and I are kicking off the weekend with Winter Weekend Outfits, a refreshing cocktail and yummy appetizer.
It’s been cold in this neck of the woods since January 1st, but we’re finally thawing out with temps in the 60s, although it’s overcast. I can never decide which is better: sunny and cold or gloomy and warm. Forget that! I’ll choose sunny and warm any day of the week, which has me thinking I need a quick warm weather getaway. Caribbean, Mexico, or somewhere in the States? Let me know your favorite vacay spots.

(Ann Taylor )
I’ve been in a black and white phase recently since it’s a chic color combo perfect any time of year. High Rise Boot Crop White Denim from Ann Taylor paired with a vintage ribbed striped tee from J.Crew just never gets old. Change the footwear and change to entire look. Today, I chose a pair of black cap-toe slingbacks that are a dupe for Chanel flats. But black boots would look equally good, especially when it’s cold.

Football is still going strong this weekend, as the Chiefs square off with the Ravens this Sunday afternoon then the 49ers face the Lions that evening. Yep, the march to the Super Bowl is fast coming to an end. I’m guessing the 49ers will play the Chiefs on February 11th, but one never knows. Kelly grew up in San Francisco, so will be rooting for the 49ers. Me? I’m not a die-hard fan, but I do like the Chiefs since that’s who I cheered for growing up in Nebraska.

(Madewell)
I love a shirtdress and this Denim Popover Mini Shirtdress from Madewell is perfect for the winter; the denim is thick and the long sleeves are perfect for chilly days. I did have this dress hemmed by about 2 inches since it doesn't come in petite sizing. I am wearing regular size XS.

Pop this Popover Mini Shirtdress over Ribbed Tights and you're set for a chilly day. I completed the look with black Laguna Chelsea Boots. This is a one and done outfit perfect for a winter weekend!

Spritz cocktails are refreshing and easy; the combinations for what you can create are practically endless. Today we are taking advantage of winter citrus and making a Blood Orange Sparkling Rosé Cocktail.
A Salad Niçoise is one of our favorites and this adaptation to a toast is just as wonderful! The addition of burrata adds a mellow flavor with rich creaminess. Use oil-packed tuna for the best texture and flavor. Plenty of fresh herbs and olives pack a lot of flavor into a small package. Such a great brunch, or light dinner!
Oscar, Kelly, and I wish you a lovely weekend!

Can hardly wait for Spring myself. The bitter cold has finally broke, thank goodness but still a lot of Winter left here in MInnesota. Won’t be in Spring clothes for a while, but nice to see the cute outfits. Hi Oscar and Ollie wherever you are hanging out today. Hope Oscar is a little more calm. It’s always hard for our pets to age also.
Where in Nebraska?
Beth,
I love seeing Oscar. I live with a senior lady, Annie. Nice post today. Thank you. Kate
Cute outfits, girls! And Kelly, you are so attractive when you are smiling!!
Beth,
Glad you’re feeling better! You and Kelly look great and always like to see Oscar 🙂
Those cap toe slingbacks are an accessory calling to me.
So, how about Key West? I haven’t been in quite a while but it could be a good quick getaway. I’m heading to Key Biscayne (near Miami) for a wedding in March.
Let us know what you decide!
