Happy Friday, gang! It’s time to kick off the weekend with my best friend by my side, Oscar, who happens to turn nine this month! He’s turning gray, just like me… I have him on a special diet since German Shepherds are prone to arthritis and hip/joint problems, and it seems to be doing the trick, as he has no signs of slowing down. He loves to race back and forth against the fence in my backyard, letting the deer know in no uncertain terms that this is HIS yard. Deer beware! Even with all of Ocsar's antics, we are all about Cozy Friday Fall Outfits today.
Of course, Kelly stopped by to turn an average Friday afternoon into a culinary experience. Today, she whipped up a delicious salad with all of my favorite fixings. And we made an Autumn Fizz that’s the perfect fall cocktail!

Since it’s Friday, I couldn’t resist slipping into a cozy half-zip sweater from Talbots with a denim shirt from J.Crew tucked underneath. Friday is always about casual weekend ease, so I’m typically sporting a pair of everyday relaxed jeans from Talbots if the weather is cooler or a pair of shorts if the thermometer has soared past ninety degrees. But fall has definitely arrived in Georgia as the temps have been delightfully mild with lows in the 40s and 50s! Love this time of year!!

I can’t resist a stripe – any stripe. I absolutely love stripes. So the new Shrunken Cashmere Sweater in Rugby Stripe from J.Crew was an immediate purchase for me. Not only for its stripes, but the navy/camel combination is incredibly versatile with all of the neutrals in my fall and winter closet. Nor can I resist fun pattern mixing. Hence my Rothy’s The Original Slip On Sneakers in navy/camel camo. These are several years old, but there are plenty of new prints and solids to choose from at Rothy’s.

I also enjoy bucking tradition, so…White Denim. A perfect post-labor day color all fall and winter in my wardrobe – it’s a perfect way to brighten any day. Don't make the mistake of rotating your white denim out of your fall/winter closet to create a Cozy Friday Fall Outfit!
This is the perfect fall cocktail for when the weather is pleasant: not too cold, but not too hot. It's a refreshing drink that packs fall punch with the sparkling apple cider.
Makes 2 Cocktails
4 oz Gin
1/2 oz lemon juice
Agave nectar, to taste
Sparkling apple cider
Garnished with thyme and apple
Pour gin in a shaker filled with ice, add lemon juice and agave nectar, shake, and then pour into a high ball glass with ice and top with sparkling cider. Garnish with fresh thyme and an apple slice.
I love this salad because it's a great main dish any time of day; brunch, lunch, or dinner; it's satisfying and delicious! I call it a Brunch Main Dish salad here because of the bacon and eggs, but make no mistake this is a great main dish salad for any meal.
5-6 Bacon Slices
3-4 Large Eggs
White Balsamic Dijon Dressing
1/4 cup Olive Oil
1/4 cup White Balsamic Vinegar
1 tbsp. Dijon Mustard
Super Greens Salad with Bacon and Eggs
5 oz. Washed Super Greens (baby spinach, arugula, Swiss chard)
1/4 Red Onion, sliced thin
1 cup Halved Grape Tomatoes
Stilton Blue Cheese, crumbled
Fresh Cracked Black Pepper
Caper Berries, for garnish
Bacon and Eggs
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Set a wire rack in a sheet tray. Lay the bacon slices on the wire rack. Place in the preheated oven and bak for about 10 minutes, then check the bacon ever 3 minutes until it’s lightly crisp. Transfer the bacon slices to a paper towel-lined plate and set aside.
Set a small saucepan 3/4 full with water set to boil. When it’s boiling, use a spider skimmer to gently lower 4 eggs into the boiling water. Let the eggs boil for 8 minutes, then use the spider to transfer the eggs to an ice bath. Let them sit in the ice bath while we move on the to the dressing.
White Balsamic Dijon Dressing
Use a jar with measurement lines. Add equal amounts of oil and vinegar to the jar and 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard. Screw on the lid and shake vigorously until the dressing is fully emulsified. Set aside.
Transfer the washed greens to a large bowl.
Drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of dressing on the greens. Then drizzle on 1-2 tablespoons of bacon fat on the greens. Toss with tongs until the greens are lightly coated with bacon fat and dressing. Add a little more dressing if needed.
Compose the Salad
Transfer the dressed greens to a serving platter. Top the greens with onion slices. Then scatter the bacon pieces on top.
Scatter the halved grape tomatoes on top of the bacon and onions. Then carefully slice each egg in half and lay the halves, yolk side up, on the salad.
Drizzle salad dressing lightly over the top of the salad. Then, break up the blue cheese and scatter the chunks evenly on the salad. Add a few cranks of fresh cracked black pepper and then garnish with several caper berries, if you like.

Love your Friday posts because we get to see and hear about Ollie. He looks awesome. Being a dog lover with three rescues that keep me moving I love getting to share with other dog lovers.

I really like your head-to-toe Talbots (sweater and jeans) and Kelly looks nice and makes a good point about white jeans for fall/winter. I WILL try your cocktail and main brunch salad — this looks easy (within my capabilities) and satisfying (also low-carb).
