Happy Friday, ladies! Can’t believe another week has come and gone. But here we are, ready to kick off the weekend once again! Oscar has been doing great the past couple of weeks, so thanks for all the love you sent him. What a life lounging on the couch and bugging Ollie! I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine’s Day! February can be gloomy, but the bright spot comes smack dab in the middle, so I hope y’all enjoyed it.
Today we are sharing casual late-winter outfits and a yummy recipe that reminds me of my parents back in the day. Anyone remember the famous line “Real men don’t eat quiche”? My dad loved going around the house, ready to wield that phrase whenever an opportunity arose. And, yes, my mom was hell-bent on making one as soon as they arrived on the scene. Kelly’s rendition is superb, so if you haven’t had a quiche in some time this recipe is for you.

We are making a Cobb Salad Quiche and a beautiful Butterfly Martini

Per usual, my Friday ootd is casual chic that starts with a pair of green sailor slim wide-leg chinos and a crewneck cashmere sweater both from one of my favorite retailers, J.Crew. One of my favorite brands to shop for shoes is Frances Valentine, as they never disappoint. I can’t tell you how often I reach for Frances Valentine's shoes when I have a shoe dilemma. Their shoes can be pricey, so I typically shop their sales. But the houndstooth block heels elevate the casual look of the chinos + sweater style formula that’s as easy as 1,2,3.

I am loving these Petite Kick Out Crop Jeans from Madewell! So comfortable and perfect all year long. These jeans are versatile enough to wear in all seasons. I am looking forward to wearing them in the summer with sandals, but they go perfectly well in late-winter. They make a perfect Casual Late-Winter Outfit.

What a gorgeous cocktail for February! A sweet take on a martini, with Violette liqueur and hibiscus syrup, this Butterfly Martini is slightly sweet with a punch!
Makes 2 Cocktails
4 oz. Gin
2 oz. Elderflower Liqeur (such as St-Germain)
1/2 oz. Crème de Violette
1/2 oz. Hibiscus Rose Syrup (such as Pink House Academy)
1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
Edible Orchid or Rose Petal, optional, as garnish
Combine the gin, elderflower liqueur, crème de violette, hibiscus rose syrup and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake for 20 seconds.
Strain in to a martini glass. Garnish with an orchid or rose petal.
A perfect combination of quiche and salad – the Cobb Quiche is the perfect meal for any time of day.
1 9-inch Pie Crust, par-baked and cooled completely
1 cup Finely Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 1/2 cups Diced Cooked Chicken
1 cup Finely Chopped Cooked Bacon
5 oz. Blue Cheese, crumbled
4 Scallions, thinly sliced
6 Large Eggs
1 cup Whole Milk
1/2 tsp. Kosher Salt
1/2 tsp. Freshly Ground Black Pepper
Salad
3 tbsp. Olive Oil
2 tbsp. Red Wine Vinegar
1 tsp. Dijon Mustard
Kosher Salt and Freshly Ground Black Pepper
1 1/2 cup Halved Grape or Cherry Tomatoes
1/4 cup Finely Minced Chives
8 oz. Romaine Lettuce, chopped
Preheat the oven to 375º F. Place the par-cooked, cooled pie crust (still in the pan) on a sheet pan. Spread ½ cup of the grated parmesan evenly over the base of the crust.
Add the chicken and the bacon in even layers over the Parmesan. Crumble the blue cheese over the chicken and the bacon. Sprinkle the scallions over the cheese.
In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, salt and pepper until well-combined.
Carefully pour the egg mixture over the filling mixture in the crust.
Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese over the top.
Bake the quiche for about 30 to 35 minutes, until the edges are set but the center is slightly jiggly.
Let cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
Just before serving, make the salad:
Combine the oil, vinegar and mustard in a jar and shake to emulsify. Season with salt and pepper to taste. In a large bowl, toss the tomatoes, romaine lettuce and chives with the dressing. Serve the salad alongside slices of quiche or top the whole quiche with the salad before slicing.
