spring sweater weather
on our mad dash down to atlanta last week i bopped into j.crew. this is a brand that’s been near and dear to my preppy heart since i flipped through the pages of their first catalog waaaay back in 1983, the year mr. style and i walked the aisle. yes, they’ve had their up’s and down’s the past few years. under the leadership of jenna lyons, the j.crew ‘look’ became iconic. but as we know all good things come to an end. it was only a matter of time before ‘the look’ began to waver. and big issues were at stake like quality and fit and frankly, they veered away from classic staples that were the bread and butter of j.crew from its inception. but in recent months i’ve noticed a return to their classic roots. they’ve even brought back several best-sellers from the past like this rolled neck cotton sweater first issued in 1988. when i spied this sweater in the store, i think my heart went pitter patter, and i might have drooled for a split second. whatever the case this navy cotton sweater just had to come home with me. and, yes, this sweater is available in four colors navy, pink, ivory, and mountain khaki. i’ve debated for over a week if i should add the khaki or ivory into my collection… sometimes my Midwest roots take over. we have to think about things.
whenever i see a rollneck sweater like this i always think of long walks on the beach with a soft wind at my back, toes curled in the sand, and the sound of waves rolling in. even if i’m not walking along the shoreline, this sweater is perfect for a brisk spring day. and we’ve had several of those as of late. today i paired it with white denim from everlane, a classic fit boy shirt in a blue and red stripe, and tory burch espadrilles that have become my new go-to shoe. if you love stripes, j.crew is dishing up some cute renditions in preparation for national stripe day. apparently, national stripe day is a thing, ladies. who knew?

Love it! Have wanted a roll neck for awhile. Love the colors of the stripes together too.
I agree–that’s a classic. And it’s still chilly enough most days here to wear it. Spring is ready but the winter temps are still around periodically… Looks great!
