Happy Friday, gang! Or should I say Happy Black Friday? Guess who dressed for the part?! Thanksgiving is late this year, which is the official kick-off to holiday shopping, so it’s off to the races for Christmas and Hanukkah gifts. Back in the day, Black Friday was an event where retail stores opened their doors at midnight for Black Friday deals! Boy, have things changed. We now have Black Friday deals all month long since we can shop 24/7 with online retailers. This morning, we sent our Black Friday post with all of our picks from Amazon, Talbots, Madewell,  and Ann Taylor. Let’s just say we have compiled a few shopping tips for YOU to make your life a little easier. Bring on the Holiday Cheer!

I hope y’all had a lovely Thanksgiving Holiday. We received BIG news at the Djalali house. Guess who is going to be a BeBe? That’s code for Grandmother!!! Yep, Andrew and Chelsea are expecting a baby girl on May 23rd, and we couldn’t be more excited! We had a low-key gender reveal party with pink cake, sharing the big news. Chelsea’s mom was present, and I don’t think there are two women more excited than KiKi and BeBe!!! I can tell you one thing: Baby D will have a gorgeous wardrobe from day 1… just sayin’.

Bring on the Holiday Cheer!

Beth's Black Friday Outfit

But if you stopped by today, you know we’re kicking off the weekend with a yummy recipe and cocktail. Many of us have leftover turkey after the Thanksgiving holiday, so what better way to use it than Turkey Noodle Soup? Give me all the soup when the temps dip down, and boy, are we chilly the next week or so.

IMG_8634

Today, I slipped into a black chunky turtleneck, pulled my tights out of storage, and decided faux leather shorts and knee-high boots were the perfect companions.

Kelly's Black Friday Outfit

These Barrel Leg Jeans from Madewell have been on style repeat lately, they’re so comfortable! They come in petite so if you’ve been wanting to try this trending denim style, the petite version is perfect for us shorter ladies. I am wearing a petite size 25, and I could have sized down one size, but I do like the looser waistband – especially after all the holiday meals! 🙂

The Brushed Cashmere collection at J.Crew is so gorgeous, I have this Fitted Cardigan Sweater and I also sprung for the short-sleeved sweater tee. The cashmere is so soft and cozy – perfect for the holidays!

Today we are mixing bourbon with cranberry juice to create a cocktail perfect for colder temps and the holidays. Make this cocktail even more festive with a large ice cube filled with cranberries, star anise, and fresh rosemary – no garnish needed!

Happy Friday, gang! It’s T-minus six days until Thanksgiving and thirty-three days until Christmas. Yikes! This girl has to get in gear! I have purchased zero Christmas gifts thus far…not to worry. I always have Amazon as a backup for speedy delivery. If you have not visited my Amazon Storefront, what are you waiting for? Kelly and I update the storefront regularly, so stop by. And if you missed the Luxe for Less Amazon Dupes post, you can read it here. Since it's our last Fridays with Oscar before Thanksgiving, today we have A Thanksgiving Cocktail and Side.

A Thanksgiving Cocktail and Side

Beth's Thanksgiving Outfit

Thanksgiving is late this year, so there’s still time to mix up your menu if you’re so inclined. Kelly whipped up a Roast Squash and Chard dish perfect for feast day. I loved every bite! Since the temps are cooler it’s time for corduroys, which are a nice change of pace from jeans or chinos. Pink is my signature color, so these pink corduroys (available in six colors) from Vineyard Vines are the perfect choice.

IMG_8533

If you love a preppy look as much as I do, then a fisherman’s sweater (old, similar here and here) will do the trick. It’s classic, timeless, and puts a prep into my step every time. Suede block heels from J.Crew that are years (old, similar here and here) complete my casual yet chic outfit.

Kelly's Thanksgiving Outfit

I love the rich, yet muted color combination of merlot and grey. Corduroy is a fall and winter favorite, and today I am wearing Straight Leg Corduroy Pants in Noir Red from Gap. I am wearing a petite size 25.

IMG_8539

I featured this Cable Knit Rollneck Sweater yesterday in my post, Sweater Weather. It’s so comfy and soft! This sweater is already on style repeat and I find myself reaching for it as the weather here has chilled quite a bit. My Rothy’s Original Slip-On Sneakers are the perfect shoe to cap off a casual, comfortable fall outfit for the weekend!

Thanksgiving Aperol Spritz

IMG_8528

We love an Aperol Spritz in the summer, and with a few festive additions, we can enjoy this cocktail in the fall and winter too. Apple Cider gives a warm, autumnal flavor and an apple and spice-laden ice cube gives the warm and beautiful aromas of cinnamon and star anise.

Thanksgiving Side: Roast Squash & Wilted Chard with Rosemary Goat Cheese

This Roast Squash & Wilted Chard with Rosemary Goat Cheese is a great appetizer, but I think it's also a perfect side. Roasted squash and the beautiful glossy greens make a gorgeous presentation. The sharp tang of the goat cheese strikes a perfect balance with the heavier sides of a Thanksgiving meal.

Roast Squash & Wilted Chard with Rosemary Goat Cheese

  • Author: Better Homes & Gardens

Ingredients

Scale

8 oz. Goat Cheese, at room temperature

4 oz. Cream Cheese, at room temperature

1/2 cup Extra Virgin Oliva Oil

6 large Garlic Cloves, smashed

2 Sprigs Fresh Rosemary

1 Lemon

1 small Butternut Squash, peeled, seeded, and cut into 1-inch chunks (6 cups)

1 large Red Onion, cut into 8 wedges

4 Garlic Cloves, minced

4 Sprigs Fresh Thyme, leaves removed

1 bunch Swiss Chard. Stems removed, leaves roughly chopped

Instructions

Let goat cheese and cream cheese stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, for garlic-rosemary oil, in a small saucepan combine olive oil, smashed garlic, and rosemary sprigs. Heat over medium-low to a gentle simmer; cook until garlic is golden (Be careful not to burn the garlic.) Remove from heat. Using a slotted spoon, remove garlic and rosemary from oil. Strip leaves from rosemary sprigs. Finely chop leaves and garlic; reserve for garnish.

For rosemary goat cheese, remove 2 tsp. zest and squeeze 1 Tbsp. juice from lemon. In a food processor combine goat cheese, cream cheese, 3 Tbsp of the garlic-rosemary oil, the lemon zest and juice, the 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh rosemary, ½ tsp. salt, and ¼ tsp. freshly ground black pepper. Process until smooth. Transfer to a bowl; cover and chill until ready to use (up to 3 days; let stand at room temperature 30 minutes before using).

Preheat oven to 425°F. In a large bowl combine squash, red onion, and ¼ cup of the garlic-rosemary oil; toss to coat. Add minced garlic, thyme leaves, the 1 tsp. chopped rosemary, and ½ tsp. each salt and pepper; toss to distribute evenly. Spread on a large-rimmed baking sheet.

Roast until squash is golden brown and crispy on the bottom, 30 minutes. Add chard leaves; toss to coat with some of the oil. Roast until leaves wilt, 5 minutes.

Spread rosemary goat cheese on a serving platter. Arrange roasted vegetables on top.

Drizzle with the remaining garlic-rosemary oil and top with the reserved chopped crispy garlic and rosemary. Serves 6.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Oscar, Ollie, Kelly, and I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Fall Holiday Cocktail and Appetizer

Happy Friday, gang! Good golly, Miss Molly, but this month is disappearing. It’s November 15th, the halfway mark. Thanksgiving is late this year, November 28th. Then it’s onto Christmas, Hanukkah, and NYE. YIKES! If you’re looking for inspiration for your Thanksgiving outfit, look at this blog post for casual holiday looks. But today is Friday, which means another weekend is on deck. Kelly stopped by and whipped up a delicious and festive appetizer that’s also easy to assemble. So today, we have a yummy fall holiday cocktail and appetizer!

Fall Holiday Cocktail and Appetizer

My house is undergoing a mini-renovation, so chaos will reign in the short term. Downstairs, the studio where the Podcast, YouTube, and Instagram stations will live is being transformed. It will make my life so much easier to have my work and home life separated once and for all. Right now, who knows where the studio lights shift to? Dining room, living room? Where’s my microphone? Where’s the latest outfit? I’m telling you I had no idea what I was getting into almost ten years ago. Can you believe it? I’ve been blogging for close to ten years?! Next March, we plan on a BIG celebration, and I have all of YOU to thank for this incredible journey. Stay tuned!

Beth's Fall Holiday Casual Outfit

If it’s Friday, then I have a casual chic outfit on hand. I’m loving these green velvet jeans from J. McLaughlin, which have been on style repeat for the past few weeks. The green turtleneck from Sézane sold out lickety-split, but there are similar ones here and here. How cute are these stack bracelets from Frances Valentine?! I love that brand! Their clothes are pricey, but their jewelry is affordable. Green suede driving mocs complete this monochromatic outfit.

Kelly's Fall Holiday Casual Outfit

I recently purchased this Brushed Lady Sweater Jacket from J.Crew and have been pairing it with so many different bottoms because it just goes perfectly with everything! Today, I went for my Petite Kick Out Crop Jeans in white, from Madewell

I have two other pairs of the Laguna Chelsea Boots from Sam Edelman, but I decided to purchase the dark brown suede version this year because I wear these boots a lot in the winter. They are incredibly comfortable and wear really well in all kinds of weather.

Fall Holiday Cocktail - Fig Jam Bee’s Knees

The Bee's Knees is a classic gin-based lemon cocktail, this version gives it a fall makeover with fig jam. A wonderful addition to the mix, the fig jam takes away some of the tartness for a smooth fall cocktail. We garnished the Fig Jam Bee's Knees with fresh thyme for an herbal aroma.

Fall Holiday Appetizer - Pear Brie and Apricot Wreath

A filled pastry wreath is an easy appetizer to prepare and it makes such a festive and beautiful presentation! I love the flexibility of this appetizer, you can fill it with your favorite cheese, maybe try apples instead of pear, or fig jam instead of apricot. While we left our wreath vegetarian, sliced deli ham would be a great addition.
