Hello, happy Thursday! Beth and I are just back from our river cruise on the American Queen so I wanted to share my travel outfit and luggage. I talked a bit about the capsule wardrobe I packed for this cruise last week. One thing I didn’t mention was my travel outfit, which I often wear for both ends of the journey.

Travel Outfit
If you’ve been following along the last week, you will know that Beth and I went on a river cruise up the Mississippi River. The mid-February trip was the first of the season for American Queen Voyages. Since the Lower Mississippi is subtropical, we had to be ready for all kinds of weather. And we did experience all kinds of weather straight out of the gate.
It was a chilly day in the 40s when we left Atlanta, so I wanted my travel outfit to be appropriate for that. But I also knew that New Orleans would be in the 60s. A big part of your travel outfit is thinking about how long you will be in the outfit when you leave and when you get to your destination. Digging into your suitcase when you get to the airport to depart, or before arriving at your hotel, is not ideal.
Denim
In the winter, I always like to travel in jeans. I like the versatility and durability of denim. Traveling can be messy. In and out of transportation; in and out of airport gate areas, restaurants, restrooms, baggage claim…I am sure you know what I mean. Plus I can wear denim at least a few times before they need a wash, so they have longevity with the rest of my travel wardrobe.
I also stick with boyfriend/girlfriend, or straight leg fits for maximum comfort and mobility. Bonus points if you don’t need a belt. I happen to need one with these jeans. But taking it off for security is no big deal.

Lightweight Sweater
For my top, a lightweight cashmere sweater. I brought a few sweaters on this trip, and I was glad I did for the cold days. For the days when it warmed a bit, I was still happy in my light sweaters, and no jacket. You really can’t go wrong with J.Crew Cashmere. I have several; they are affordable and they hold up well.

I packed my lightweight quilted jacket in my carry-on bag. I definitely needed it in Georgia, but not so much in New Orleans. But it’s easy to pack and very light to carry. You saw in my post last week that I built my capsule wardrobe around the Laguna Chelsea Boot because it’s a very comfortable boot, it’s a slip on style and they’re waterproof – all in a very neutral color palette. Since these are the bulkiest shoes I brought, I am wearing them with my travel outfit.
Luggage
I recently purchased two Monos suitcases and this is my first trip using them. The smaller one is the 23-inch Pro Plus Spinner. I love the front pocket for carrying my laptop and cords. It has a protected pocket and pouches for all my tech cords.
The larger bag is the 30-inch Large Check-In Spinner. Both bags came with two shoe bags and one laundry bag. It’s important to me to have zipper compartments in my luggage and straps to hold things down. Both pieces of luggage have a variety of interior zippered sections and compartments.
I also packed with the Set of 4 Monos Cubes. Cube packing is so great for unpacking and keeping everything clean and organized.
The matte exterior of the Monos Luggage does get a bit of scuffing during travel, but it cleans up really well with the Magic Eraser-type sponge that came with the bags. All in all, I am very happy with the Monos Luggage.

Sorry. I agree with Mary Ann. The link goes to a completely different jacket from the one you are wearing. Yours is MUCH nicer. For starters, yours has buttons and patch pockets. The one linked has domes and zippered pockets. Is it possible that it is because I am in Canada that the link is different?
