Dear Beth, You are looking wonderful. It is a testament to your inner strength and clarity of thought. Your long term plan to be mindful of your health is inspirational. I know there has been firming and probably strength advantages on the program, but can you tell me please, how much weight have you lost?

    • Beth Djalali says:

      hi gayle,
it’s really hard to say how much weight i’ve lost since muscle weighs more than fat. and i didn’t go into this program thinking i need to lose xx amount of pounds. i joined FWTFL because i decided to go on a fitness journey at 59. i knew i wanted to live the last chapter of my life making the right choices when it came to my health. but if you’re interested in living a healthy lifestyle the pounds will come off. and you’ll be feeling like a whole new you.
      xo

      • Lorrie says:

        Beth,
Actually, muscle does NOT weigh more than fat. Pound for pound, they are equal BUT they do not appear the same. Muscle is “tighter” where fat is “loose” so comparatively, muscle has a leaner appearance.😀

        • Beth Djalali says:

ha ha! but muscle tissue is denser than fat tissue, which means that yes it weighs more.

an extra 20 pounds of fat gives a softer, less toned appearance. but an extra 20 pounds of muscle is firm and sculpted. so if i weigh 135 pounds and it’s all fat i might wear a size 8. but if that fat is converted to muscle that same 135-pound body might wear a size 4 or 6.

muscle also serves a different function than fat. fat also insulates the body and traps in body heat. muscle boosts your metabolism. which means the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn when you’re at rest.

          hope this helps!

Sounds like a really good, healthy plan. I definitely recognize that eating healthy and well is the key to feeling good. I am very careful about what I eat and it helps me do well with my RA. The old adage “we are what we eat” is very true. I am fortunate that I like and prefer healthy whole foods anyway. And the exercise keeps us feeling strong. Good for you!

So concerning FWTFL you consider this is a good thing for me since I am over 60. This will help me feel better and help my joints from hurting at times and also take care of the middle that I have around my waist. The cost is what I am worried about because I am afraid I want follow through.

    • Beth Djalali says:

      hi dianne,
yes, FWTFL is a very good program that teaches you how to make good nutritious choices. our diet is everything. not going on a diet but what we eat day in and day out. but you have to be commited. if you’re not interested in changing your lifestlye then i wouldn’t bother with this program. but if you are interested in taking control of your health and learning how to be the best you there is then it is worth every penny. because there is no pricetag when it comes to a healthy body and preventing disease. xo

How much weight have you lost and how much can one expect to loose on this plan in a month? You look great so wondering why you are pushing this plan?

    • Beth Djalali says:

i believe in FWTFL because i see month after month how many lives have been transformed by this program. it isn’t so much about losing weight although you definitely will. it’s about learning how important nutrition is and implementing that into our lifestlye. the statistics are shocking as far as how many americans are overweight – roughly 2/3rds of adults. and the rate is growing each year. there has been a huge disconnect when it comes to what we’re eating the past forty years. but with the right diet in place your body will naturally burn fat instead of holding onto it. you won’t believe how good you start to feel eating healthy food.

  5. Susan says:

Beth I have read your posts before and am interested in FWTFL, have about 20lbs to lose, I do Jazzercise which is a great exercise program, I would not want to give that up! I guess I could live with a window of 11 to. 7 as my eating window. Can that window be adjusted if you have something special a later dinner? Is the program difficult to understand?

    • Beth Djalali says:

you can certainly incorporate jazzercise into your FWTFL exercise program. good for you for having a workout you love. as long as you stick to the eight hour eating window you can adjust it according to your lifestyle and what’s going on on any given day. the program is very easy to follow and there’s lot’s of support to answer your questions and keep you on track.
