October Opals…. Birthstone of everchanging color!!
Hello October 2021– We blinked, and you are here…with visions of masked ghosts and goblins, mystical Halloween fun!
Color – Color and more Color!!
Images flicker in our minds from an outdoor bonfire on a cool autumn night, a beautiful scented candle, and a fiery Opal Gem glistening in the light!! Opal is the classic Birthstone for October, babes! Its play of color takes on many shades…and its meaning comes from the Greek pallios: “to see a change in color.” From whites to pinks and oranges to very deep, dark blues and blacks – all are kaleidoscopic beauties!
Whether modern or traditional, an opal is mysterious, ethereal and beautifully iridescent! A gemstone that reflects a rainbow of colors. Recently, pink tourmaline was added, as a modern October Birthstone, too.
Be Your Own Astrologer Personalized Book
October babes are either Libra (Sep 23 – Oct 22) or Scorpio (Oct 23 – Nov 21). Astrologers believe Libras are charming, lovable, fair, sincere; Scorpios are passionate, loyal, and brave. What do you believe??
Love certainly seems to be an October birthstone theme. It is also said they are lovers of Beauty.
This month we celebrate talented beauties Carole Lombard, Catherine Deneuve, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, Lee Grant, Ruby Dee, Rita Hayworth, and sooo many more!
The mystical October opal and pink tourmaline are major inspirations for today’s jewelry designers. They are definitely in love with these magical, rainbow gemstones…in every color!

Many a bride and party planner choose the beautiful, ethereal Opal gemstone for her special day or event
inspiration.
Carolyne Roehm’s magical Sugarplum Fairies reflect her charming genius for Dickens inspired Great Expectations – All Hollow’s Eve Party!! They certainly create a Halloween of another sort!! Little heavenly beauties…each one in a different pastel. They remind me of my own Bridesmaids. Each color reflecting individual personalities in Pale Pink, Aqua, Baby Blue and Lilac. My Mother had this same color theme for her own wedding! It seemed a special, personal way to honor her, my sisters, niece, best friend and tradition, all at the same time! Today’s October bride might even consider a beautiful Tai Opal Initial Monogram necklace or Birthstone Ring as a lovely, extremely personal bridesmaid gift …and wedding remembrance.
Carolyne Roehm Passion for Parties
An October Bride might wish to wear the beautiful Pink Opal for her special day or Honeymoon. Italian Goldsmith Marco Bicego’s collection is delicate, classically modern, and would add a bit of flattering blush – so beautiful for photographs and memories to last a lifetime!
Home Design has also seen the Opal’s calming inspiration. Rosenthal Porcelain’s “Junto” in a harmonious new tone “Opal Green”, complements the Ocean Blue, Pearl Grey and White. “Like the cold gemstone, the fine glaze perfectly emphasizes the delicate diamond relief.” Chic, elegant and modern…for your table and home.
Enjoy these early, cool days of October with calming opal joy…for you and your home. Until next Saturday, when we explore more of October’s delights – much love. xoxo MMK
