Designing your tables for holidays can be especially fun ~ for the children’s table too ~ casually chic or elegantly formal! Gorgeous, collectible books give wonderful, uplifting images to fill your mind and feed your own creativity.
Flowers: Art & Boquets (Assouline)
Collecting books is a great passion of mine and gives special inspiration. You might also enjoy the beautiful flowers in full bloom in this lush, glorious Assouline volume, Flowers: Art & Bouquets. It includes gorgeous floral design history and wonderful works from London, Paris, and New York minimalists in vibrant color. Design books of all sorts inspire: art, color, textiles, flowers, gardens, and antiques! They can, of course, fuel your springtime refresh!
William Yeoward Country Fanny Goblet | (Bloomingdale's) | Blushing Violet Bouquet (Teleflora)
Whether you are filling your home or table with fresh blooms or their scents; their beauty and joy are unmistakable!! Every color, gradation, and combination of colors from their petals and leaves are thrilling and uplifting! They charm and delight us in so many ways…our mood and air!! You simply have to smile!
Flowers (Amazon) | BACCARAT Ginkgo Crystal VASE (eBay) | Tall White Wine Perfection (Replacements)
Spring camellias, hyacinths, hydrangeas, lilacs, parrot tulips, and wisteria are all astounding!! They really do not require intricate arranging to be beautifully lush and magnificent! Every table, room, and garden is enhanced by their numerous, fabulous colors!! Simply group in profusion…select a vase, pitcher, or special container, and voila!!
New Sensations Bouquet (Teleflora) | Perfect Peonies Bouquet (Teleflora) | Sunny Mood Bouquet (Teleflora) | Sweet as Sugar (Teleflora)
Flower centers are a total wonderment to me! Study them in particular for color-theming inspiration...for your table or an entire room ~ simply breathtaking ~ nature at its best!
At this time of year, much is blooming right outside!! Clip away…
Centerpieces, petite individual placesetting arrangements, blooms for nightstands or bathrooms can be simple, charming and beautiful – they are instant joy for your spring weekend refresh! Let your flower, vase and a little humor give you and your guests the simple pleasures of life ~ indoors or out!
Charlotte Moss Entertains (Amazon)
From table settings created by Valentino, Carloyne Roehm, and Charlotte Moss to new and timeless dinnerware designs from Bernardaud (Praiana), Ginori (Oriente Italiano), and Mottahedah (Cornflower Lace); I am sharing light, airy themes of green, whites, creams to invigorating classic blue - white with combinations of vibrant, sunny yellow.
Some tablescapes are elegant with antiques and faceted crystal…yet others are quite simple with pastel-dyed eggs and charming pitchers filled with fleurs! What mood are you in?? Do you, your family, and guests need soothing…or energizing?? Create what feeds you! Let your holiday weekend and spring reflect your needs and spirit!
Will you be dining indoors with candlelight and silver or is it warm enough to be out in the garden or patio hiding eggs with the kiddies?
My special childhood memories of Easter include hay rides and egg hunts on my Aunt and Uncle’s Ohio farm. We made homemade ice cream and hid colored eggs all afternoon with my Uncle Joe, my sisters and many cousins over and over, till their shells were falling off!
To this day, I continue to color eggs. It brings a tranquil Easter happiness and many warm memories. Now, I put them in art glass bowls and crystal icebucket in lieu of colored grasses. One year, I gifted my hand-colored egg gems in an iittala glass pitcher, as my hostess gift for my niece and husband. They were quite proud to host a lovely Easter dinner in their first Manhattan apartment.
Enjoy your own personal celebrations this special weekend and may they continue for weeks and months to come! Let’s make new, happy memories this wild year!!
