good morning, ladies. happy monday! i hope you enjoyed the long Easter weekend. our spring weather was sprinkled with tornado watches and flash floods on friday and saturday with a high of fifty-something. it was downright cold and dreary! but sunday was a glorious sunshiny day which seemed to make up for the chilly ones. mr. style and i wandered parts of the UGA campus for photos sunday afternoon. hopefully, you can catch a glimpse of the beauty that surrounds these historic grounds. the University of Georgia was founded in 1785 and is one of the oldest public universities in the United States. people always ask why mr. style and i decided to make athens our home. the university had a big part to play. it offers sporting events, concerts, an art museum, and, of course, the energy of the students that abounds for nine months out of the year. and an adorable english bulldog mascot that goes by the name of uga.

there’s been much discussion on the blog recently about fashion price points. so i’m sharing how i wear high low items. of course, on any given day you will see me wearing mid-price brands: Ann Taylor, Talbots, J.Crew, Everlane. their classic styles will always have a place in my closet. but if i’m shopping at Target or Akris Punto and something catches my eye, it has a 100% chance of coming home with me. because if you find something that makes your heart go pitter patter you’ll wear it. isn’t that the point of a stylish wardrobe? and i love to mix luxury items with basement bargains. i’ve always had the mindset that clothes should be worn. and worn regularly. i feel the same way about my home decor. why should my china be relegated to special occasion dining? why not mix and match them with other pieces all through the year?

today’s ootd starts with a comfy pair of blue jeans from J.Crew. these jeans have been on style repeat for months. there are still a few sizes left, but they’re limited. for a similar pair of jeans check out point sur straight legs. since there was a chill in the air all weekend long, i reached for a classic cardigan (old, similar here and here) with a springtime color scheme. this zip cardi is from St. John and was purchased with a matching skirt several years ago. it looks just as fantastic with a pair of blue jeans. a blue button-down shirt from Ralph Lauren gives the ootd a preppy flair. and blue platform espadrilles from Circus by Sam Edelman keep the outfit grounded in spring.

St. John is a luxury brand that is known for its knits. the craftsmanship is what sets St. John apart using only the best yarns and materials. when i purchase any item from St. John i know it will last for years. unlike fast fashion which is here today and gone tomorrow. St. John can be found at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Saks, and online. check out your local consignment stores or thrift shops if you’re not ready to pay full price. many of my readers head to eBay when i sport an older clothing item.

Those jeans look ridiculous. I usually agree with your style sense but those dungarees, yes dungarees, that’s what our age call them are not flattering.

      here’s the definition of dungarees:
the name “dungaree” was starting to be used for fabric as well as for an item of clothing (as plural “dungarees”). … Dungaree is often compared to denim, but there is a difference. While denim is woven from uncolored yarn and only colored after weaving, dungaree is made from pre-colored yarn.
of course, you are entitled to your opinion. but many women don’t find distressed jeans to be ridiculous. and what is “our age” calling flattering to begin with? the old fashion rules are gone. and gone for good.

Did your Momma never teach you that if you don’t have something nice to say, then say nothing at all? Of course everyone’s style is a little different. It sure would be a boring world if we were all the same, don’t you agree Kathleen?

I think the jeans look great on you. What does age have to do with it?

    I. New at this web page I like it all.
Wished we lived close to have one of your cocktails.
Where do you find your purses and shoes. I know you mentioned Talbots and that is classy too. I am just turning 77 and I love fashion and jewelry and living life to the fullest.
Is there a bio of you and how you got started on your blog?

I admin I prefer bootcut or barely bootcut pants or trousers. Also not a fan of distressed but gotta admit I love you swagger AND panache! This 61-year old stroke survivor and product of the African diaspora loves clothes, and style more than ever. Keep it comming my Talbots sister-under-the-skin!!!
