here’s a startling statistic, americans spend over $20 billion annually on weight loss schemes, yet american adults keep putting on the pounds. new data shows that nearly 40% of the population is obese. a sharp increase from a decade earlier. we all know that being overweight or obese is unhealthy but just talking about the problem doesn’t solve it. while i don’t profess to be a skinny minny this past year, i started a fitness journey that opened my eyes to just how important my diet is. and i’m not talking about ‘going on a diet’ then reverting back to all my old, and dare i say it, bad habits. no, i’m talking about what i eat and drink day in and day out because it’s all about balanced nutrition and training program – not fad diets. guess what else i’ve learned this past year? you can’t out-exercise a poor diet. period. it took me sixty years, but i got it, i really got it – the truth about healthy dieting and nutrition that’s turned into a lifestyle. over the past year, my diet slowly changed (it’s still changing) and the way i looked and felt about myself changed too. honestly, it’s what’s going on inside my head that’s been the biggest game changer. i have more energy throughout the day, sleep better at night, my digestion has improved, and people tell me my skin has never looked better. and i’m actively looking for healthy recipes or tweaking longtime favorites and sharing them with you week after week.
what helped me make the connection (finally) between diet and lifestyle was Faster Way to Fat Loss – an online fitness and nutrition program that focuses on intermittent fasting, carb cycling, and macro tracking. the next Faster Way to Fat Loss starts February 11th. you can register here. why do i love this program that not only works for me but for countless others? here are three reasons:
ONE – every detail is planned out for you. the online workouts have exact directions and links to watch the moves. but if you love working out at The Barre, or have another workout routine, or you’re used to Spin Class no problem. there are options, ladies, options. my workout routine consists of three sessions per week on my Peloton, one Pilates Reformer session, and one aerobic weight training class with Amanda (the mastermind behind FWTFL). the great thing about Faster Way to Fat Loss is you can make it work with your lifestyle!
TWO – this is a lifestyle, not a diet. we use My Fitness Pal app to track calories and macros, but the mentality is progress, not perfection. the goal is to eat dairy free, grain free and gluten free as much as possible but again, there’s flexibility. do i have a cocktail or glass of wine on occasion? absolutely! will i enjoy a valentine day chocolate? yes, i will! as i mentioned, Faster Way to Fat Loss is a lifestyle change, not a diet. it gives me the tools and resources to stay or get back on track. this program teaches how to cut fat and gain lean muscle while living life to its fullest.
THREE – it is a proven system that helps women and men (yes, there is a program for men) lose fat. and there’s no age limit! you’ve heard me talk about the importance of exercise as we age. my goal is to live the best life possible regardless of age. and exercise is key.

today, i’m also sharing a few off-duty outfits. this french terry tracksuit finds its way into my suitcase whenever i travel. after a long day, it’s nice to slip into something comfy. this tracksuit was originally purchased for our caribbean cruise last october so i could schlep to the dining room in the morning for a quick cup of coffee. it’s also the perfect outfit to take oscar for a walk or run to the grocery store.
when i’m headed to the nail salon i slip into a pair of yoga pants and bring my flip-flops.
okay, gang, if you have any questions about Faster Way to Fat Loss send them my way. i’ll keep sharing my fitness journey with you because i wholeheartedly believe in this program that changed the way i think about nutrition and exercise. i guess you really can teach an old dog new tricks.
