an easy way to transition to spring is to lighten your color palette. exchange navy for black, pink for red, green for gray, etcetera, etcetera. since i’m a sucker for pink, i decided a pink knit topper (old, similar here and here) was the perfect choice for a day beaming with sunshine. but still a tad chilly. whenever i see gingham pants, shirts or jackets, i know spring has sprung. if only in the hearts and minds of retail stores. but gingham is to spring what plaid is to fall. and i’m always happy to see this cheerful pattern back in action.
today, i shopped my closet and chose a favorite color combo. pink and navy. it’s a tried and true palette that works any time of year. pink has so many hues to choose from but a soft shade of pink always reminds me of spring. this pink knit topper is several years old but looks terrific with brand spanking new navy blue gingham pants. the bi-stretch pants are from J.Crew with a higher waist, side zip, and cropped leg. it’s definitely a flattering flat front fit that’s perfect with sweaters or knits when you want to eliminate bulk. the gingham pants look fantastic with a navy blue blouson knit top purchased last year at Nordstrom’s anniversary sale. the knit top is still available and is a great transitional piece – not too heavy and not too light.
yesterday, i wore these sunglasses on an Instagram Story, and my inbox blew up. y’all loved them. the sunglasses are from Fendi. two colors remain black and havana. i’m wearing green, but i literally scooped up the last pair. at least the last pair at Neiman Marcus.
all right, ladies, it’s time to get tuesday started! go put a smile on someone’s face today, including your own.
