good golly, miss molly, it was downright cold this morning at a brisk forty-three degrees! and the sun is rising later day-by-day. when i roll out of bed at six am there’s no sunshine to greet me. aaannnddd, can you believe halloween is fast approaching? it’s time to stock up on some treats for the kiddos and make final decisions about a costume. anyone else still dresses up for All Hallows Eve? it marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the darker half of the year. it’s funny, as a child we had a halloween party at school and went trick or treating in the evening, but i can’t remember anyone decorating their yards except for the typical carved pumpkin here and there. now it seems as if more and more homes are pulling out ghosts and tombstones or any other ghoulish item to set the mood for the bewitching hour. there’s even a new Halloween movie this year starring the original slash queen jamie lee curtis. i vividly remember watching the original movie that set the course for a new genre when i was a junior at university. and i’m pretty sure my face hid behind my hands the entire movie. i might have spilled my popcorn once or twice waiting for jason to make his move. horror movies are definitely not my thing but you have to try one now and then even if you jump and bump your way through.
but back to your regularly scheduled ootd – a nine-to-five look from J.Crew. pinstripes have always been an office favorite, and these cropped ankle pants will look fantastic with a navy blue blazer. today, i chose a double-breasted grey coatigan that’s as chic as it is cozy. block heel pumps with pearl embellishment add a modern twist. the addition of a silk scarf adds a pop of color to this decidedly neutral outfit that’s ready to start the work week in style.
happy monday, gang! go make it a good day.
