leopard jackets and suede booties
leapin’ leopard, ladies, it’s mid-october! can you believe the holiday gong is about to chime? i know i know there are still seventy-four days until Christmas arrives. and we still have lots of pumpkin spice coffee to brew before Thanksgiving. but good golly miss molly, where has the year disappeared to? it seems as if it was only yesterday i was on Tybee soaking up the rays, dipping my toes in the sand, and listening to the roar of the surf. but here we are ready to wear leopard jackets and suede booties.
never fear. this time of year is loads of fun, especially when it comes to fashion. there are coats and jackets to wear, sweaters to choose from, denim jeans to don, and of course, a pair of boots. what’s better than that? nuthin’!
today’s ootd (outfit of the day) is all about casual elegance. stovepipe denim jeans with a relaxed fit start the outfit off with casual ease; they look fantastic with a turtleneck sweater (old similar here). add an on-trend leopard jacket into the mix, and you have the wow factor too. but a quilted leather handbag with gold chairs and black suede booties gives subtle sophistication and a small dose of elegance, which makes this outfit perfect for day or night.

Leopard Jackets
if you’re like me, you have one eye out every year for the perfect leopard jackets. and i think i might have found the one for me. and maybe you. cropped, boxy jackets are all the rage this year, so this leopard jacket ticks all the boxes. i love the roomy fit that’s perfect to pop over a sweater. even a thick, cable knit sweater if need be. but the best feature of this snazzy little number is that it’s two-toned. that’s right. one side is brown, the other black, which gives it endless styling options. and who doesn’t want a versatile jacket?
this leopard jacket is from Anthropologie, one of my favorite brands. while i don’t typically dress in head-to-toe Anthropologie, i do love their eclectic and vibrant clothes. and their stores are a visual delight. but i can always count on Anthropologie for unique sweaters, on-trend jackets, or laid-back athleisure wear. this is a brand that will keep me relevant and vibrant.
Suede Booties
another reason to love this time of year is the wide selection of boots. from riding boots, over-the-knee boots, or a casual pair of suede booties boot season is here. and i love it. today, i’m wearing a pair of block heel black suede booties from Sam Edelman. they’re perfect with a pair of jeans, but they’ll look equally good with skirts or dresses. don’t be afraid to step out of the style box, ladies.
a quilted handbag gives this casual chic outfit spit and polish. don’t forget to cuff your jeans to show off your suede booties.

When you say stove pipe jeans. Do you mean straight legged jeans.

I am a newly-retired 62 year-old struggling to find clothes to fit my current lifestyle now that I no longer need to wear conservative dresses, skirts and suits. I love the fact that you’re not afraid to wear shorter shorts, skirts, bathing suits and other styles that some may think inappropriate for “older” women. Finding the balance between too young-looking clothes (cringe!) and too old-looking (frumpy!) clothes is a definite balancing act and I think you’ve achieved it perfectly! Thank you doe the inspiration!
