Lovely! I made myself a few tiered skirts back in the day when I sewed everything. I think I kept Vogue pattern company in business. I love the color combination here–very transitional into fall.

i do like ralph’s patterns and prints. and i particularly like the color scheme on this skirt. do you still sew? or has your arthritis put an end to that. i used to sew as well and had a kick-ass sewing room in our basement! but i mostly sewed home dec projects with an occasional skirt or dress thrown in for good measure.
don’t you just love memories? especially of our kiddos when they were young.

Sometimes I sew, but the fabric selections aren’t what they used to be for making clothes–it’s mostly upholstery and home decorating projects where you can find good stuff now. Used to live near the “rag district” in NYC and would have the men see me eyeing fabrics–you could get them so inexpensively back then: rich wools and gorgeous fabrics for next to nothing. I remember looking at some fabric that was $8.99/yd, when one vendor looked me up and down, and said, “For you–I give…$8.98!” (Really?? You’d do that for ME???) 😉

I’ve made drapes and pillows and duvets, etc…can’t do as much with these hands and wrists now. I always painted, too, and those days may be gone. But I do have memories, and that’s something.

Ruffles! That’s a gorgeous skirt. Does it have quilting above the ruffles? It kind of looks like it in the pictures. I love the mixing of patterns too. My daddy was doing this way back 30 years before it was THE thing to do. I saw a picture memory of him this weekend where he was wearing a striped coat and a floral striped shirt. Mr. Style should try it. haha

isn’t this skirt ‘all that’? i love it. so feminine. there’s three rows of stitching above the tiers which give it a little oomph. your dad sounds like a dapper fella. way ahead of his time. mr. style likes stripes but without any pattern…

I love how a chambray shirt goes with absolutely everything!!
We’re doing a series on them next month—thanks for the inspiration!
