many of you lovely readers ask why i shop the same brands over and over again. and that’s an easy question to answer. one reason is items bought years ago will work seamlessly into newer product. the color schemes are in place. which means they transition easily season after season. typically, brands carry over wardrobe staples from one year to the next with a tweak here and there. different buttons, a lapel refresh, or the cut is suddenly fitted instead of relaxed. take today’s ootd. the pink bermuda’s were purchased this season. but notice how it matches the knit blazer last seen here. this classic jacket that’s been on rotation in my closet for two seasons. and the ruffled popover shirt last seen here? this is from summer 2015. the baby blue with pink dots is a perfect match with both the shorts and the blazer. the shoes are from the spring 2016 collection. note the old school preppy color scheme – pink and navy. they’ve been given a modern update with an adorable stripe. last but not least, the wicker handbag is a classic, ladies. i’ve carried one version or another for over forty years… as you can see, brands build loyalty with their customers by producing wardrobe staples that can be mixed and matched from one season to the next.

happy hump day! dont’ forget, talbots red hangar sale has only begun. i may or may not have maxed out my talbots charge card. i won’t tell mr. style if you won’t…
