well, we all noticed my penchant for stripes in yesterday’s post. but, hey, it’s a timeless classic that’s earned its way into my heart and closet. another classic i always gravitate towards is a hat. (you thought i was going to say lbd didn’t you?) from the time i was a young girl a hat was always a must-have accessory. my mother came from the generation where hats were the icing on the cake for a special date, sorority rush, or a job interview. and she passed those habits on to me. as a young girl, it was the norm for me to don a hat before i climbed into the backseat of a convertible. or visited the chicago zoo while on summer vacation. and, yes, we ladies have strayed a bit from the by-gone-days when hats were properly stored on a closet shelf in a hatbox. but if you’re looking to add a fun, practical, and timeless accessory to your closet, i suggest you’ll need a few hats in your arsenal. and if you’re in need of some stylish hatitude check out the amazing and beautiful Style Crone. this little lady has more than one hat up her sleeve for inspiration! i adore judith, and i know you will too. and while we all know i’m all about casual chic here at Style at a Certain Age there’s something so special and lady-like when we don a lovely dress and add the perfect accessory. today i’m wearing a custom-made beauty – the Audrey that’s the perfect partner for my lbd. accessories are kept to a bare minimum with a structured handbag and kitten heels. sometimes simplicity is all you need. especially when the star attraction is the perfect summer hat.
