Happy Thursday! When it comes to my day-to-day dressing in the colder months, nine times out of ten, I reach for jeans. Which is why I am so inspired with the variety of denim styles and cuts this year. Remember when skinny jeans were at their zenith and it seemed like you couldn’t find a looser fit, or straight leg jean anywhere? Glad those days are over… In fact, I have had straight leg jeans on style repeat all winter. If your go-to bottoms are jeans, dressing them up to change up your look is easy, so today I am sharing Dress Up Your Jeans with a Silk Top from Spanx.

Spanx is ever expanding their collections, and their Workwear Collection caught my eye. Recently, I found this Low Maintenance Silk Button Down. It comes in four colors, including the striped version I chose. It fits true to size, I am wearing xs. The shirt has a double layer panel to create opacity in the chest area.
What I love about the design of the striped version is that the second layer has the stripes going in a horizontal orientation, while the rest of the top features vertical stripes. It’s just a clever detail that gives this top a little something extra.
Another detail I love about this shirt are the cuffs. They are slightly wider than typical, and this makes them great for rolling. Plus, the silk top is machine washable, a huge bonus, in my book!
When you find a pair of jeans that you love, it’s worth it to buy a few pairs in different washes. You can imagine my excitement when I found a style I love to wear at Gap! The High Rise Cheeky Straight Jeans are my perfect version of a straight leg jean; they come in petite sizes, most of the styles have a button fly, and they wear really well throughout the day and through many days of wear. Plus, they’re super affordable.
Unfortunately the light grey wash I am wearing is sold out in petites, with few sizes remaining in regular. But I did find a comparable version, low-priced, and available in petite sizes from Old Navy: High-Waisted Button-Fly OG Straight Ankle Jeans. Or, try the High Rise Straight Jeans in Vintage Grey Wash from Loft.
Shoes are not unlike jeans, by which I mean, when you find a shoe you love, it’s worth buying a few pairs in different colors. Well, I can say that I really fell in love with the Loraine Bit Loafer from Sam Edelman. The loafer comes in a huge variety of colors, prints and materials. They fit true to size and are super comfortable, right out of the box.
The Loraine Bit Loafer is a best-seller and as the seasons change, Sam Edelman regularly cycles through the various colors, prints and materials by putting them on sale. I recently scored two pairs I had my eye on all winter for $80 – down from $150.
A Bucket Bag completes my look – perfect for a day at the office, since I can slide my laptop right into the Transport Bucket Bag.

Hi Kelly
I really like this look! Thanks for a “rear view “ pic.
Very helpful in seeing the clothing from all angles.
I recently cropped a pair of old straight leg grey jeans.
They required a high heal and I don’t really wear heels with jeans anymore. Low stacked heel boots are about it. I had a moment of regret but when I saw this post I knew I made the right decision.
Thanks!
Hi Kris, You bring up another great thing about denim: one can simply cut off the hems to create a new look and wear something you might have thought you would never wear again! You made a great decision, thanks so much for sharing it with us – maybe you’ll inspire someone else to do the same thing. Thanks so much for stopping by! xo Kelly
