i’m pretty certain my love affair with denim began in high school. with a pair of button fly levi’s. this was back in the day when there was only one wash available – dark rinse. if you wanted that lived in, faded, oh so casually chic rinse you had two options. the first was to wear your levi’s non-stop. month in and month out with only an occasional pit stop in the laundry basket. these were the years i remember my mother regularly claim it was five o’clock somewhere in the world and pour a generous glass of wine…because the second option was a bit risky and involved chlorine. if your bleaching technique were down pat, you’d wind up with the perfect pair of light wash jeans. accompanied by many an admiring stare from friends and foe alike down the hallowed high school hallway. but one false move with a jug of chlorine bleach and your brand spanking new levi’s would come out of the rinse cycle looking like a leopard who lost his spots. on those days my father joined my mother for cocktail hour with a stiff scotch in hand as he knew very well that money did not, in fact, grow on trees. a concept his only daughter had yet to comprehend. my oh my but the times have changed. take a look at my denim shirtdress in today’s ootd. doesn’t it have that perfectly faded look down to a t? it even has a hint of stretch to it, making it a dream to wear. since i’m traveling down memory lane today what could be better than a pair of clogs? back in high school, i owned several pairs (brown and blue suede were my fav’s) that i loved to pair with dresses and jeans alike. today i feel as if i’ve hit the bingo jackpot since i’m not only wearing clogs paired with denim, but a shirtdress to boot! oh, the simple pleasures of life. if you’re looking for comfortable footwear (as many of us are) these dansko clogs can’t be beaten. form and function working in tandem – gotta love it.
